Who We Are

Betta is an iOS app that turns photos of your notes into flashcards and schedules your reviews. For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Betta is the data controller for the limited data described in this policy.

If you have any question about this policy, contact us at support@rememberbetta.com. Betta is operated from France, and this policy is governed by French and EU data protection law.

No Account Required

Betta does not require you to create an account or sign in. Your flashcards, decks, photos, and study history are stored locally on your device.

We never receive, upload, or have access to your study materials or the photos you take to create cards.

What We Collect

We collect a minimal amount of anonymized, technical data to keep the app working and to improve it:

• Product analytics (via PostHog): anonymized usage events such as which screens are opened and which features are used, with no link to your identity or study content.
• Crash reports and diagnostics: technical information about errors so we can fix them.
• Device and app information: app version, operating system version, and device model.

Why We Can Process This Data

Our lawful basis for processing this technical data is our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the app. This data is anonymized and cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

Subscriptions and Apple

Betta Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the Apple App Store. All payment and billing is handled by Apple under your Apple ID.

We do not receive or store your payment details. We may receive your subscription status (active or not) from Apple so the app can unlock Pro features. Apple processes your data under Apple's own privacy policy.

Third Parties

We share data only with the service providers needed to run the app:

• PostHog — anonymized product analytics and crash reporting.
• Apple — app distribution and subscription payments.

We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not show advertisements. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing.

Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Because Betta keeps your study content on your device and our analytics are anonymized, we usually hold no data that identifies you.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@rememberbetta.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).

Data Retention and Transfers

Your study content stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Anonymized analytics and crash data are retained only as long as needed to operate and improve the app.

Some of our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Children

Betta is not directed to children under the age required for consent in their country, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
